- Who is Pete Rimmel?
- Pete Rimmerl - N8PR (SK) a ham of hams. He was a legend in the ham community. A kind and generous person. Always extending a helping hand to his fellow hams with his vast knowledge. He has won many awards that most hams could only dream of. His volunteering extended not only amateur radio, but also to church and community. We learn so much, we must never forget him.
- What kind of event is this?
- A family picnic gathering. Everyone, including non-hams, welcome to share a fun fill day of good food, activities and interaction. The assumption is on family and kids.
Although the picnic is not an Ham event, the picnic will coincide with the Florida QSO Party for anyone that may be interested. Ham radios and equipment will be on display.
- What shelter will the picnic be at ?
- The picnic area at Tree Top Park will be at the ‘Live Oak Shelter’. Arriving at the park entrance you can ask the park official collecting the 3.00 per car entrance fee for directions. It’s just the first right turn past the observation tower. There will also be ‘Live Oak‘ signs. A link for the park’s map is provided below.

- What age are kids consider?
- Kits 18 and younger will be free, and from the same household.

- What is a Fox Hunt?
A fox hunt is a game/contest where one or more operators hide a small radio transmitter (the “fox”) in a defined area, and other hams try to locate it by tracking its signal direction and strength.
The picnic will have two fox hunts, one for everyone, the other exclusive for the kids.
- What is the Florida QSO Party?
- The Florida QSO Party is an amateur radio (ham radio) operating event and contest that focuses on making radio contacts with stations in Florida. It’s part of the broader tradition of U.S. state QSO parties, which are designed to be fun, accessible, and welcoming to operators of all experience levels.
- We would like to bring some food/dishes for others to enjoy.
- Anyone that has a favorite food or dish that would like to share, would be welcomed,
and encouraged. Just let our chairman Dan Gallagher - KO4SYU know to set aside space for your dish.
Be aware the park does not permit any glass containers.
- Are there handicap accommodations?
- The park is handicap accessible. There is handicap parking and restrooms.
Please, don't park in handicap even with a handicap tag unless you have a truly need for such space.

- Will the picnic be serving beer and wine?
- No. Remember the event is about Family and Kids. The park prohibits hard liquor. Also Keg beer only permitted with prior park management permission only. No glass containers permitted in the park for any reason.
- Will pets be permitted?
- If the pets don’t interfere with the safety and enjoyment of the picnic. The park requires 6-foot leashes or shorter, be always under strict control, and clean up after their pets. Violators will face citations and fines for not complying.
- Are there any complimentary or free adult tickets?
- No. All adults 19 and older without exception pays the same fee. This includes committee members that put many hours of work in this picnic project. Just a small thank you would be nice.

- When does tickets need to be purchase?
- Tickets can be purchased now via PayPal. Click ‘Purchase Tickets Now’ below for more information. Tickets should be obtained at least a few days beforehand. This will allow the picnic committee ample time to formulate appropriate supplies and essential preparation modifications.

- Is this event tax deductible?
- Although we are a 501(c)(3) corporation, you will need to consult with your own accountant regarding any deduction.
- Do we get a physical ticket upon payment?
- It will be a virtual ticket. However, an official payment receipt will be issue for payment. No exceptions.
